Shadows Burning

Nariko turned red. "Actually, I was pushed off my bunk by a certain someone." Nariko said.

"What?!" Zoe protested. "I was only trying to wake her up, because she was having a bad dream and screaming like a little girl and waking all of us up."

If possible, Nariko turned redder. "Okay let's get that leg treated." Said the nurse.

Once Nariko was settled with the nurse, Zoe turned to leave. "Bye, I'm gonna go check in with the others. I'll have them come visit you", she said, then stepped outside.

Enya was looking anxiously toward the infirmary when she saw her friend approaching.  she rushed to meet her, hoping Nariko was okay.

"Nariko should be fine." Zoe said once Enya caught up with her. "I just hope it heals soon so we can find out what's up with Calixte."

Enya was glad that Nariko was okay, but the mention of calixte had made her unhappy.  she spent the rest of the day frowning slightly and lost in thought.  even martial arts, her favorite class, could not cheer her up. 

That night when they were in the cabin, Zoe said, "If we want to find a cure for Calixte, we should go soon. Tomorrow, at best."

enya frowned.  "first, we have to figure out where we're going.  since we're looking for a cure, we'll want to find a healer.  but if she really is possessed, it might not be so simple.  does possession even have a cure, or will we have to stop whoever's doing it?  we don't know who they are, who's working with them, or their motives.  and if they find out what we're doing, they'll try to stop us.  we have to be really careful.  for all we know, they could  have a whole army on their side." 

"Let's go to the library and see if we can find anything." Zoe suggested.

Nariko hobbled out into the cool night air. She had tried walking on cruches earlier, and it went pretty well. She had a guess what her friends were doing, and slowly headed across the grass. The nurse, of course, didn't know where Nariko was or was going. Nariko had made sure to leave after the nurse was asleep, and stick a few pillows under the covers incase she decided to peek in.

enya peered at the shelves, looking in the section with evil magic.  she searched quickly, knowing the librarian would be suspicious if she stayed in this section for long.  she ran her finger along the P books, searching for possession.  her finger came to a wide gap just before the books on potions.  the possession books were gone.  she noticed a stack of books on the librarians desk, behind a 'reserved' sign.  she stepped forward to read the titles:

• Possesed Behaviors: common signs of possession
• Possession: a dark guide
• Possession and its dangers
• Possession: simple techniques
• Possession  (dark handbook part XVII)
• Possesssion and how to stop it
• Possession: the cure

Enya looked at Zoe.  "if they've already possessed Calixte, they won't need these books.  either someone's really interested in possession, or someone doesn't want us to read about it.  i think we should follow whoever comes to pick those books up." 

Zoe nodded. "I guess we could just pretend to be browsing through the library until they come."

Enya walked over to the history section and slowly read the titles, listening for the chime of the bell on the the door. 

Zoe was flipping through a book on water magic when she heard the bell ring. She glanced  out of the corner of her eye and saw a man with a cape striped with every color imaginable. Looking at him closer, she saw that he had smooth, black hair that was swept back, showing two streaks of gray. He looked like he could be a professor, but she had never seen him before. The man said a few words to the librarian, and with a smile, scooped up the possesion books and strode out the door.

Enya saw him too.  she hurried to the front of the library and watched him through the window.  when he was too far away to hear the bell, she pushed open the door and slipped outside. 

Zoe follow Enya out the door and they began to follow him. They made sure they were a safe didstance behind him, but even so walked as quietly as they could.

he wound his way throughthe halls and into the section of the academy where teachers and their families lived.  students weren't allowed here.
