Shadows Burning

"What should we do?" Eagle said.

Falcon put a finger to her lips and carefully reached out a hand. She brushed away the concealing leaves and gasped. What lay in front of her was a kitten. As she watched, its form began to shimmer and it transformed into a baby human. (I hope this is okay with everyone)

At first Eagle was confused. Then rage filled her. "Kill it." She said. "We lost to many to their kind."

crow felt the same way. she glared at the kitten. 

(aww, poor kitty)

"Wait!" Falcon said. "I's just a baby. Thay may kill us in battle, but thay don't knill our young. We would be much worse than them if we killed this baby." She stopped and thought for a moment. "In fact, we could use it against them. Raise it ourselves and make it part of the clan. Or tell them we'll only give it back if we can make an agreement about the territories."

 "You make a point, but what happens if it decides it wants to be with it's own kind? Have you ever taken care of a baby, let alone a Cat Clan baby?" Eagle said.

"No. But like I said, we could let them know that we'll give it back to them, but at a price."

"Okay. That's a good idea. What do we do with it until then?" Eagle asked.

Falcon shrugged. "We should probably get him back to camp and tell everyone else our plan. And get it something to eat."

Eagle suddenly realized that her stomach was really empty. "Good idea."

"Let's hunt for some mice or something. That's one thing that I know both birds and cats eat."

Eagle turned and became a bird. She took off, loving the feeling of rushing air. This never got old. Eagle searched the forest from high in the air, occansionally diving down incase she saw a mouse.

Falcon transformed as well, and soon had a couple of mice clamped in her talons. She dropped them near the baby and turned back into a human.

Crow sat down beside the kitten, clutching her arm. watching her friends fly made it hurt even more. "i'd better go," she said to Falcon, then hurried back toward the tent where the Healers worked.  the Healers' tent was hidden in a clump of thick trees and bushes, growing so close that they twisted together into an almost impenetrable wall.  she entered through a hidden door with a curtain of vines hanging over it, breathing through her mouth.  the tent was full of birds injured in the battle.  the floor was strewn with bodies, and it smelled even worse than usual.  most of the patients' injuries were much worse than hers, so she would probably have to wait awhile before she could be treated. maybe one of the apprentices would tend to her.  Crow spotted Dove lying on a bed in the corner.  she hurried over to her

Dove saw Crow enter the tent, and was relieved to have someone she knew well with her. "How are things going outside?" she asked.

After they had fed the baby, Falcon gathered it up and prepared herself to enter the camp.

crow waited impatiently as a healer apprentice made her a sling.  finally, it was on, and crow felt a little better now.  she hurried out of the tent to look for her friends. 

Falcon stepped into the camp, feeling everyone's questioning eyes burning into her as she walked over to the leader. "We found this infant by a tree outside camp. We think it was abandoned by the Cat Clan."
