(Gerevnae was already at the camp as a year-round camper.) Gerevnae was lounging underneath tall pine tree, pondering her next prank. But she was not having a very good idea day. Suddenly it hit her. Brilliant! She thought. Now all she needed was some new campers to play the trick on...

Leksi was faint and dizzy from shock and fear, but she stumbled after her strange companion. Memories of the encounter were fresh in her mind, but the danger was still near. then, suddenly, the monster loomed before them, its many serpentine heads hissing wickedly.

Suddenly, a horn sounded. The signal to gather. Gerevnae leaped to her feet, sprinting to the hill. She was the first one there, even though her tree was further away from the hill than most people had been. Chiron, the camp director, was there, his horn just lowered from his lips. He dropped his hand to his side, the sun glinting offhis gold arm band as he did so. Then he turned his shaggy, bearded head in Geevnae's direction, and smiled. Gerenvae knew what he was thinking. She was always the first one to meetings, being the daughter of Hermes. But Gerevnae just ignored him and watched the other campers thundering towards them. When everyone was gathered, there was a racket. At first it was only whispering, but quickly the noise greew until people were almost shouting over one another. All about what they thought was the cause of this rare meeting. But Gerevnae never utter a word. She new there was no point. They were just wasting their breath. Finally, Chiron stamped his hooves for silence. Once the chatter died down, he began to speak. "Children, something has happened" His deep voice was not loud, yet it held all attention. "A new demigod has been discovered. A daughter of Apollo." The crowd gasped. New demigods were becoming rarer and rarer these days, and there hadn't been a child of Apollo in a while. Nor one of Hermes. Chiron stamped his hooves again. "But she is being assaulted by monsters. She must make it here safely. But there are many monsters waiting in her path. So I will choose a team of four campers to go out and help her." Suddenly everyone was shouting again. Everyone was yelling something along the lines of "pick me!" or "I'm the best archer!". But Gerevnae didn't say anything. So, of course, Chiron noticed and hollered in that commanding voice, "Quiet! Those of you who yell and beg will not go!" Then he looked at Gerevnae. "Gerevnae Marcus! You will go!" Gerevnae smirked and gave a tiny, barely perceptible nod.
(Hope this's okay with you, Raindrop.)

Meanwhile, Leksi felt almost ready to faint. she had just learned that her father was Apollo, Greek god of light and music. Now she was struggling after a satyr, suffering a series of attacks from many various mythical beasts. However, this one was by far the most terrifying. the hydra was a giant snake with multiple heads. Leksi was terrified of snakes. Just a few months ago, her mother had died after being bitten by a highly poisonous snake.

( Lilies, I wanted it to be something special that just my character had, partly because her mom is the goddess of the rainbow.)

The three others who were picked were Conrad, from the Hephasteus cabin, Nikkola, from the Nemesis cabin, and Bradly, from the Ares cabin. The four ran to grab their armor and weapons, either a sword, a spear, an axe, or a bow and arrows, and maybe some extra knives. Gerevnae grabbed a sword, and buckled on her arm knife sheaths and some for her boots, too. She had one other knife, a special one which she kept hidden in a secret compartment in her belt. They then went to the stables and hurriedly saddled some pegasi, and then together flew into the air. It was obvious when they reached it. The pegasi reared, and the riders looked down in disbelief. Below hem was an enormous monster. It had the body of a serpent, with large, blotchy brown scales. But it was much bigger than a regular serpent. Its body was as thick as a car is long, and the length of, well....let's just say, it was HUGE. But the most frightening thing was the heads. Yes, heads, plural. Nine of them, to be exact. Each one was a snake's head, but with smaller, ugly, red eyes with a messy slit pupil. The heads were all hissing and spitting and lunging at two tiny figures that were frantically trying to escape. Gerevnae could see that the people had little in way of weapons, and cursed their stupidity. No demigod who knew their heritage should go into the outside world, every satyr should know that. But obviously this one didn't. Bradly gave a ferocious battle cry, echoed with less vigor by the other two. Gerevnae didn't beleive in battle cries. She thought they were stupid, as they just warned the foe that you were about to charge. The riders then dived towards the monster, hacking and dodging at the heads. The hissing grew louder, for the monster, who had been enjoying torturing his next meal, was now getting annoyed. The campers tried to distract the heads, weaving around them and occasionally flying closer to nick the monster with their blades. As they did this, Gerevnae swooped lower, next to the girl. She motioned with her head to run, and, hoping the girl would escape, ascended once more to battle the monster. As she was dodging one of the heads, Gerevnae felt something wet spray on her face. Blood. A moment later, the head she had been battling with thudded to the ground. Nikkola began to give a whoop of victory, but was cut short when the headless neck bubbled and two more heads sprouted, one of them grabbing Nikkola in its jaws and swallowing her in one gulp. Gerevnae's pegasus reared, and, caught by surprise, she toppled from the horse. She was about to splatter to pieces on the ground when something caught her and began to lift her. Gerevnae was relieved. that is, she was until she realized what was holding her. She was in the jaws of the hydra.

Gerevnae felt the hydra head lifting her, and knew it was imagining what she would taste like. Strangly, she didn't feel the least bit afraid at the thought that her death was probably minutes away. She had never been afraid of dying, and now, she would go to Hades serenly and happily, knowing that, despite her early death, she had lived life to its fullest.

Leksi desperately thought over her options. she had no weapons except for sticks and stones. she could either try to fight the monster, or trick it somehow. Niether had much chance of success, but she had to try. then Leksi began to glow. she didn't mean to, or know how she did it. The light just came naturally. more and more gathered around her, harsh and yellow, until rays of light exploded in all directions. the hydra bent its heads low, shielding its eyes. in its confusion, the monster dropped the girl it held and slithered about blindly. it was just the distraction they needed.

Gerevnae dropped, barely concious, poisoned blood gushing from the wounds in her lower neck and in her belly where the hydra's fangs had punctured her. She was aware of a glowing figure below her, shooting blinding rays at the monster, which thrashed on the ground in agony. Just before she slipped away, she uttered one word. Her voice was weak and quiet, yet that one s[poken word was full of triumph and happiness. "Ha." She said. Then her eyes closed, and she prepared herself to enter the realm of Hades.

Leksi hoped the girl was alright, but she didn't dare break her concentration. her satyr companion helped the girl while their three other rescuers closed in on the panicking Hydra. finally, they killed it, and it exploded into dust. the group proceeded toward camp, and she was finally safe.

Meanwhile at the camp, everyone was worried about if they were going to make it or not. Tension rose as time went by and people were now trying to convince Chiron to let them go and help. "Come Chiron! You have to let me go out there!" said Harry, a son of Ares , "I can help, you know I can. And you said yourself that I'm one of the best swordsmen in the camp!"

"I'm sorry Harry, but I can not let you go out there alone. It's too dangerous, and if I let you go, I'll have to let everyone who also wanted to go too. Besides, they've got Gerevnae with them, and you know how good she is." Then Harry walked away, upset and satisfied at the same time because he knew Chiron was right, and that he was upset that he couldn't go.
