Shadows Burning

(What are we going to do after we wake up?)

Raindrop awoke with a start.  the mysterious prophecy was fresh in her mind.  but excitement soon overcame her solemn ponderings.  Today she was a full member of Us.  she and her friends would start off the day by taking a flight on their dragons, as was the Us tradition.  this first ride was significant to the bond between human and dragon.  if it went well, their relationship would flourish wonderfully.  if it did not, they would be uncomfortable together and not get along.  raindrop wondered what the coming ride would mean for her.  her dragon could not fly, for she was wingless.

Shadow awoke around the same time as Raindrop, also thinking about the bonding ride. Of course it would go well, she thought. It had to. Shadow continued to imagine outcomes, trying to keep the prophecy from her mind.

Ribbon, being the kind of person who would stay in bed as long as possible, was still fast asleep.

Shadow became restless. Finally, she could stay in bed no longer and climbed out the door/ window. Outside, she could find nothing to do either, and the prophecy kept entering her mind. She could stand it no longer she just had to DO something. So she grabbed her weapons and headed into the jungle, not caring that it was against the Us law to go hunting alone.

Groggily, Ribbon stirred, and registered that Shadow was not in her bed. Sleepily she wondered where she had gone, since she didn't hear much outside, and then rolled over and fell asleep again.

Shadow plodded quietly along, not actually trying to hunt. She just needed some time alone.

At last Ribbon awoke, late in the morning. She was the only one left in bed, everyone else have gone off, presumably to get to know their dragons better, and to prepare for the bonding flight. (Hope that's okay) She scrambled to get ready, hoping she wasn't late.

Shadow had compleely forgotten about the bonding flight.

Heading outside, Ribbon could see everyone but Shadow. Joining them, she whispered, "Where's Shadow? Burning is here. She should be getting ready for the bonding flight."

Shadow stopped to rest under a tree, last night coming back to her. Then she remembered the bonding flight. She was late!

If Shadow didn't show up soon, she would miss the bonding flight and her relationship with her dragon would never be good. Ribbon began to really worry whether or not her friend would make it on time.

Star paced back and forth. Ever since the night before star could not get the prophecy out of her head.She had spent a good deal of the night awake, not able to get to sleep, instead of just lying in bed awake she went outside, she was finally about to fall to sleep  when a sleepy looking shadow walked outside and headed into the woods. "Where are you going?" Star had called after her, but there was no replie. Star had told herself she was just out for a walk and would be back soon.

Name of character: Darkness Growing

Physical Characteristics (pic or description): Very dark, curly, hair. Plain, black/ very dark eyes.

Personality?: mysterious, good sense of humor, serious at times, dark, shadowy.

Talents?: hiding, running, I don't really know. I guess they are just kind of well, dark.

Dragon (description or pic): Of course, I have repeated this many times, dark, shadowy, cold scales, just not a very happy type of dragon.

Weapons used for hunting (bow or spear):bow

Weapons used for fighting (sword, bow, spear, other?): bow, sword, anything they can get their hands on.

Other?: None really.

(Is now a good time for me to come in and we'll just do my ceremony now?)

(i guess, but you could also just pretend you did your ceremony with everyone else and now do the bonding flight thingy.)

Raindrop's dragon was not looking good.  it growled and reared back in panic.  then, it charged, bashing its head on the stone of a building.  its roars sounded hoarse and strangled, and blood trickled out of its mouth.  suddenly, it charged toward Raindrops friends, weak flames escaping its nostrils.  Raindrop rushed toward her dragon without thinking.  However, it just siezed her in its jaws and ran into the jungle. 

(Okay, I'll have it be like I'm just remembering it)

Darkness was remembering the ceremony, replaying the events. She had approached the dragons, but none seemed to be hers. She turned and looked at each one, but she couldn't find the dragon. Then, out of the darkness and shadows, a voice whispered, "Growing." Darkness approached the shadows, and a black dragon slithered out of them. She stood by the dragon, wonder filling her behind a stone cold face. She stood by her dragon, Growing, like everyone else. It was only then that she snapped back to the real world just in time to she her friend carried off into the jungle.

Almost unthinkingly Ribbon leapt onto her dragon. Together they headed off into the forest after Raindrop and Dancing, following the sounds, broken branches and other signs.
