Shadows Burning

(that's weird. It's kind of pointless to be posting this though if you won't be able to see it.)

Whatever's right before the thing I posted where Shadow goes into the bedroom and says good morning to Raindrop.)

(okay, things went like this: )

SHADOW: Shadow jogged across to their tower and raced up the stairs three at a time. When she got into the bedroom, she saw that Raindrop was awake. "Good morning," she said brightly, "Are you ready for the bonding flight?"

RAINDROP: Raindrop sighed.  "I would be, but I don;t think Dancing is.

RIBBON: Ribbon entered the room behind Shadow. "Should we wake up the others? We might want to get ready."

SHADOW: (For some reason I can't veiw the last page of this roleplay. It blocks it and asks for a parent's permission. I'm posting this from the first page, which I can access, but I won't be able to see anything you guys post on this roleplay.)

RAINDROP:  "Okay," Raindrop said, getting up.  she walked over to Lily's bed and shook her gently.  "lily," she sang, "it's time to get up"

(I've got to go.)

Shadow went to her bed and pulled all her best cloths out from under it. She changed quickly and then ran her fingers through her hair. Her fingers were shaking with excitement. She couldn't wait!

Raindrop stood around, unsure of what to do.  but then she realized the leaders would tell her what to do.  she put on her favorite dress, white with blue and gold embroidery, and gold bands to match. 

"C'mon, Raindrop!" Shadow said, rushing down the stairs and out the door. Midnight Calling and Daylight Wandering were waiting there. She gave the guesture for respect and walked over to them.

Darkness ran after Shadow. She quickly copied the gesture and fell in step with Raindrop and Shadow.

"Come," said Midnight Calling, "your dragons are waiting." She and Daylight wandering started off and Shadow followed, heart pounding.

Raindrop and the others entered the Dragon Chamber.  it was a huge building, and all the us dragons were kept there.  the ceiling was several stories high, so the dragons could fly around.  members of the Us were putting saddles on a row of dragons at the front.  Burning, Growing, and all the others were there, but Dancing was not among them.  raindrop looked around and spotted her lying in a corner, being tended to by more us members.  she didn't look good.  raindrop hurried over and gently stroked her dragon's neck.   

When the saddles were on, their dragons were lead to them. "You may mount your dragons now." said Midnight calling. Shadow swung herself into Burning's saddle, holding one of his spines so as not to fall off.

raindrop watched her friends take off.  suddenly, she felt very lonely.  she wrapped her arms around dancing's neck and sighed.

Darkness was thrilled to be riding Growing. The black dragon swooped across the sky. Darkness looked over at Shadow and Burning. They looked just as happy as she was.

dancing's scales felt warm under Raindrop's skin.  it felt good. her dragon grew a little warmer.  Raindrop frowned.  was she imagining it?  but now the scales were piping hot.  instinctively, raindrop tried to pull away, but her arms wouldn't move. Dancing's eye opened.  as raindrop met her dragon's gaze, she stopped struggling.  she wanted to cry out, but she felt as if her mouth was locked shut. she couldn't move, couldn't even breathe, and her arms hurt so bad she thought she would pass out.  but slowly, dancing's eyelid slid down.  as it did so, the pain receded.  Raindrop clutched her arms to her chest.  a web of golden lines lay on dancing's neck, just where her arms had been.  Raindrops forarms were covered in identical gold marks.  raindrop felt different, suddenly aware of her dragon's emotions.  she realized what had happened.  they were bonded. 

Shadow whooped with delight as Burning did a flip in the air. She noticed Darkness and Growing flying nearby. Shadow tried to lift her hand to wave at them, but it would move. She began to panic as she tried unsuccessfully to remove her hands, Burning's scales growing ever hotter. She yanked back and almost toppled from her dragon when her hands suddenly came free. She stared in wonder at the intricate pattern of gold that had appeared on both herself and Burning. A feeling like never before came over her, and she enveloped the rushing wave of Burning's emotions, both of them rejoicing at their connection.

Raindrop was getting bored.  She was jealous of her friends, flying free in the summer air.  She sensed a sadness in Dancing, but also hope.  Dancing wanted to fly too. 

"Maybe we will someday," Raindrop whispered, laying her hand on her dragon's back.  Dancing winced.  Raindrop sensed her pain.  She pulled her hand away and looked at Dancing's back.  a trickle of blood ran from between the scales.  Raindrop noticed two long scars running down her dragon's back.  The exposed skin around them was discolored and covered in blisters.  The skin under her scales probably looked the same way.  An old woman came over. 

"Your dragon is tired," she said, "let her rest.  I will tend to her."  Raindrop wanted to cry.  "What's wrong with her?" she asked. 

The woman frowned.  "When Dancing was younger she had a terrible infection.  It must be very rare, for we had never seen it before.  It started in her wings.  They grew covered in blisters.  we did everything we could, but we couldn't find a cure.  Dancing's wings turned gray and then black.  We decided to cut them off to stop the infection from spreading to the rest of her body.  But it seems we were too late.  The infection has returned."  Raindrop was shocked.  Did this mean Dancing was going to die?
